ezman − easy interface to web based reference manuals
man is the system’s manual pager. Each man page contains documentation for a program, utility or function. The ezman web page provides a simplifed search interface to these pages. Ezman searches the short descriptions of the manual page names for the keywords and displays the web pages matching those keywords. This roughly mimics the functionality of the man -k or apropos commands.
A ezman query executes a case-insensitive search of the man page short descriptions and provides a list of URLs to the matching pages. For queries with multiple terms, the matching descriptions will contain occurrences of each term. This makes it easy to refine the results from your search by adding multiple terms.
Examples:
A query to ezman can be given as options to the page urls. The following query
was provided to the command line as shown below.

The examples below show the output of a request for information on programs that that provide process data.
The results of the first query for "process trace" is below, the second is
a request for information on the term "trace" only.

The results of a query for the term "trace" only is below:

Manual pages are often packaged or updated with updates to programs. Therefore, the manual pages available on any Unix system is related to the programs and versions of programs installed on that system. The manual pages contained in this database are based on a typical Linux system installation. Most standard Linux programs and utilities are included as well as some popular add on programs.
Under Linux
there are GUIs (graphical user interfaces), where you can
point and click and drag, and hopefully get work done
without first reading lots of documentation.
The traditional
UNIX environment is a CLI (command line interface), where
you type commands to tell the computer what to do. That is
faster and more powerful, but requires finding out what the
commands are.
The ezman web page can assist users in learning
what commands are available.
This goal of this page is to provide information about Linux. More information on Linux and Opensource can be found at https://sarata.com.
